Walking in the Light 40- Becoming a new person
Have you ever wished you could start over and become a new person? Maybe you have regrets about your past choices, or you feel stuck in a cycle of sin and guilt. Maybe you are unhappy with your personality, your habits, or your relationships. Maybe you are longing for a deeper connection with God and a sense of purpose in life.
If you can relate to any of these feelings, then you are not alone. Many people struggle with the same issues and wonder if there is any hope for change. The good news is that God has a plan for your transformation. He wants to make you a new person in Christ, who walks in the light of his love and truth.
What does it mean to walk in the light? It means to live in honesty, integrity, and holiness. It means to confess your sins to God and receive his forgiveness. It means to follow his commands and obey his will. It means to love God with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength, and to love your neighbor as yourself.
How can you become a new person who walks in the light? It is not something you can do by yourself. You need God's grace and power to change you from the inside out. You need to believe in Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, who died for your sins and rose again to give you new life. You need to be born again by the Holy Spirit, who lives in you and guides you into all truth. You need to renew your mind by reading and meditating on God's word, which is a lamp to your feet and a light to your path. You need to pray and worship God daily, which strengthens your faith and draws you closer to him. You need to join a community of believers, who can encourage you, support you, and hold you accountable.
Walking in the light is not easy. It requires commitment, discipline, and perseverance. It involves facing your fears, confronting your sins, and resisting temptations. It may cost you some friends, some comforts, or some pleasures. But it is worth it. Walking in the light brings you joy, peace, and freedom. It makes you more like Jesus, who is the true light of the world. It prepares you for eternity, where you will see him face to face and share in his glory.
Are you ready to become a new person who walks in the light? If so, then take the first step today. Repent of your sins and trust in Jesus as your Savior. Ask him to fill you with his Spirit and transform you by his word. Seek him with all your heart and follow him with all your strength. And remember his promise: "If we walk in the light as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin." (1 John 1:7)
How can you know if you are walking in the light or not? One way to test yourself is to examine your fruits. Jesus said, "You will recognize them by their fruits. Are grapes gathered from thornbushes, or figs from thistles? So, every healthy tree bears good fruit, but the diseased tree bears bad fruit." (Matthew 7:16-17) The fruits of walking in the light are the fruits of the Spirit: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. (Galatians 5:22-23) The fruits of walking in darkness are the works of the flesh: sexual immorality, impurity, sensuality, idolatry, sorcery, enmity, strife, jealousy, fits of anger, rivalries, dissensions, divisions, envy, drunkenness, orgies, and things like these. (Galatians 5:19-21) Which fruits are evident in your life? Do they reflect your relationship with God and your obedience to his word?
Another way to know if you are walking in the light or not is to check your motives. Jesus said, "The eye is the lamp of the body. So, if your eye is healthy, your whole body will be full of light, but if your eye is bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light in you is darkness, how great is the darkness!" (Matthew 6:22-23) The eye represents your vision and focus. What are you looking at? What are you aiming for? What are you living for? Are you seeking God's kingdom and his righteousness? Are you doing everything for his glory and his pleasure? Or are you pursuing worldly things and selfish desires? Are you doing things for your own benefit and recognition? Your motives reveal your heart condition and your spiritual state.
A third way to know if you are walking in the light or not is to listen to your conscience. The apostle Paul said, "I always take pains to have a clear conscience toward both God and man." (Acts 24:16) The conscience is a gift from God that helps us discern right from wrong. It warns us when we are about to sin and convicts us when we have sinned. It also commends us when we do what is good and right. How do you respond to your conscience? Do you heed its voice and obey its guidance? Do you confess your sins and repent of them? Or do you ignore it and suppress it? Do you justify your sins and rationalize them? Your conscience shows you how sensitive you are to God's voice and how faithful you are to his will. aa16f39245
